Rajshahi Police Superintendent ABM Masud Hossain wants to build the district free from terrorism, corruption and drug.
"We adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, drugs and corruption in an effort to build a drugs- and corruption-free Rajshahi district," said the police superintendent while exchanging views with journalists on Wednesday.
SP Masud arranged the view exchange programme after joining the district. He has recently been transferred to Rajshai from Cox's Bazar following the death of retired army major Sinha Md Rashed Khan in a shooting.
Meanwhile, the police officer expressed unwillingness to talk about Sinha murder case.
"Sinha incident happened in Cox's Bazar not in Rajshahi. And a case over Sinha muder has been filed. I don't want to make any comment regarding a sub-judice matter," he said replying to questions from newsmen regarding the issue.
When journalists asked if there will be any incident of cross fire for drug smuggling like Cox's Bazar, SP Masud said,"Drugs worth about Tk 9,000 crore are smuggled yearly into the country. Of the total, 80 percent come through Cox's Bazar. We want to check the drug abuse with professionalism and abiding law."
