Man beaten dead over land feud

A man was beaten to death allegedly by his neighbours over land feud in Sadar upazila of Laxmipur on Tuesday afternoon.

Deceased Mohammad Sabuj, 38, was the son of Jainal Abedin, a resident of Naldagi village in the upazila.

Local sources said Sabuj had been at loggerheads with Jalil of the same area over the ownership of two ponds.

Few people of Jalil beat Sabuj indiscriminately on Tuesday afternoon when he went to a dsiputed pond to catch fish, leaving him critically injured.

The injured was rushed to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital morgue where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Chandraganj Police Station officer in-charge Jasim Uddin said the body was sent to the hospital morgue, adding that police are trying to nab the culprits.
