Country reports 32 more deaths from COVID-19

With the deaths of 32 more people in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Friday, Bangladesh's COVID-19 death count now stands at 5,251.

During this timeline, 1,436 fresh cases were reported, taking the total virus cases to 3,63,479.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, on Wednesday afternoon.

Health authorities also reported 1,789 more recoveries in a day, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,75,487.

Among the newly deceased, 25 were men and nine women. Of them, 19 in Dhaka, five in Chattogram, one in Rajshahi, three in Khulna, two in Barisal, one in Sylhet, and three in Rangpur divisions.

In the last 24 hours, 108 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 13,155 samples and tested 13,404.

With this, a total of 19,47,455 samples were tested in the country.

The latest day's infection rate is 10.71 per cent, compared to the sample tested, while the overall infection rate is 18.66.

Till now, the recovery rate is 75.79 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.44 per cent.

As of today, a total of 4,063 men (77.38 per cent) and 1,188 women (22.62 per cent) died of the deadly virus in the country.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
