AL candidate Nuruzzaman wins Pabna-4 by-polls

The ruling Awami League's candidate Nuruzzaman Biswas won Saturday's Pabna-4 (Ishwardi-Atghoria) by-election by a huge number of votes.

Nuruzzaman achived 2,39,924 votes while his rival BNP's Habibur Rahman Habib got 5,548 votes.

Meanwhile, Jatiya Party's candidate Rezaul Karim got 3,158 votes.

BNP backed-candidate Habibur Rahman Habib demanded re-election for the constituency, bringing allegation of irregularities.

The voting began at 9:00am at 129 centres of the constituency and continued till 5:00pm.

The total number of voters in the constituency were 3,81,112. Of them, 1,91,697 were male voters while the rest 1,89,415 were female.

The constituency fell vacant after the death of Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu, former land minister and the member of parliament of the constituency.
