Surma flowing above danger level in Sunamganj
The Surma River was flowing above the danger level on Friday afternoon following torrential rain over the past few days and onrush of water from the upstream in Sunamganj district.
The river was flowing seven centimeters above the danger level triggering fear of flood among the locals.
Already the swelling of the river has cut off several important roads of different upazilas inflicting communication hazards, locals said.
Local Agriculture Office said that the flood water has damaged 1000 hectares of paddy fields.
The situation will turn grim if the rain continues in the upcoming days, it added.
