Writ challenging WASA MD's reappointment process

A writ petition has been filed with the High Court challenging the reappointment process of managing director of Dhaka WASA Taqsem A Khan.
Engineer Khandker Monjur Morshed, former additional chief engineer of Bangladesh Water Development Board, filed the writ with the concerned section of the HC on Thursday.
Four people including the secretary of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Ministry and managing director of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) have been made respondents in the writ.
Khandker Monjur's lawyer Md Tanvir said the hearing on the writ is likely to be held in next week before the bench of Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Md Khairul Alam.
On September 19, the board of directors of Dhaka WASA given its consent to extend the tenure of Taqsem for three more years.
He was appointed to the post in 2009 for the first time. Later, his job was extended three more times. His present tenure will expire on October 14 this year.
