A worker and a pedestrian were killed when a wall collapsed on them during an eviction drive at Sadar upazila in Magura district on Wednesday noon.

The deceased were identified as worker Azad Mia, 27, son of Abdul Mazid of Boali village in the upazila, and pedestrian Abdul Wahed, 50, from Thakuragaon district.

Abdul Wahed worked at Gaibandha BSCIC Industrial Estate as an office assistant.

Witnesses said the Roads and Highway Department was conducting an eviction drive to demolish structures built on the acquired land on both sides of the DB Road in the district town as a bill was passed to turn the road into four lanes.
