Saudi expatriates stage demo again for airtickets

Like Tuesday, Saudi Arabia expatriates, stranded in Bangladesh, are staging demonstration in front of Saudi Arabian Airlines office at Dhaka's Karwan Bazar for the second consecutive day.
They started gathering in front of the office 9:30am on Wednesday, halting traffic movement on the busy Sonargaon Hotel intersection.
The expatriates alleged that they have been waiting for the last four days for air tickets but failed to get it.
On Tuesday, the Foreign Ministry assured the Saudi returnees to extend the tenure of their visas and Iqama. Later, they withdrew the blockade till September 26.
But they began the demonstration from this morning as they claimed some of their visas and Iqamas will be expired within few days.
Meanwhile, the agitated expatriates cordoned off the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Eskaton around 11am sitting on the road.
SM Shamim, assistant police commissioner (Ramna Zone), said a five-member delegation of the expatriates is scheduled to meet the top officials of the ministry today.
First flight of Saudi Arabian Airlines with 252 expatriates left Dhaka at early hours.
Earlier on Tuesday, the expatriates also staged demonstration in front of the Saudi Arabian Airlines office.
