5 workers burnt while melting iron in Demra steel mill



Five workers received burn injuries while melting iron at a steel mill in capital's Demra area early Sunday.

Of them, three were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery while the rest two left the hospital after receiving first aid.  
The trio Al Amin with 28 per cent burns, Jasim Uddin with 20 per cent and Imran Hossain with 40 per cent burn injuries are now undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The three admitted patients were shifted to Intensive Care Unit as their condition is critical, said Partha Sanker Paul, resident surgeon of the institute.

Victim Al Amin said an explosion took place while the workers were melting iron inside the factory at Konapara around 12:30am.
