Recruiting agency owner among 2 detained in Dhaka

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a raid at a recruiting agency in city's Fakirapool area on Thursday detained two persons including the agency owner over the death of Bangladeshi girl Umme Kulsum in Saudi Arabia.
The elite force, led by executive magistrate Palash Kumar Basu, raided M/s MH Trade International around 1:30pm and nabbed its owner Makbul Hossain and his associate Tareque.
Palash Kumar Basu told media that details would be discosed after completion of the drive.
Umme Kulsum, 14, daughter of Shahidul Islam of Brahmanbaria, went to Saudia Arabia as a domestic help through the recruiting agency 17 months ago.
The girl was tortured by her employer in Saudi Arabia, and later, she died at a hospital on August 9 this year.
Her body was brought back home on September 12.
