Ferry services on Shimulia-Kathalbari route suspended again

Plying of ferries along the Shimulia-Kathalbari route was suspended again from Thursday morning, just after two days of its operation.

The BIWTC said, "Playing of ferries on the Shimulia-Kathalbari route was suspended from 9:30am. Ferry operation is not possible on the route due to strong current in the river. Dredging is going on to resolve the poor navigability."

Earlier on Tuesday, ferry operation resumed through new channel.

Passengers were seen crossing the Padma River by launches, speedboats and trawlers ignoring risks.
