Members of Fire Service and Civil Defence recovered the body of a 13-year-old girl from a beel (water body) in capital's Demra area on Thursday morning, after 15 hours of her missing.

Divers recovered the body at 7am.

Deceased Akashi was the daughter of Md Anwar Hossain, a resident of Bamoil area.

On Wednesday noon, Akashi alongwith three friends went to take a bath in the DND Beel. Suddenly, a local boy found Akashi and her friend Jui drowning in the water. He rescued Jui but Akahsi went missing.

As the news spread in the area, a team from Demra Fire Service rushed to the scene and started to search the girl. They ended the search operation at 10pm due to lack of light.

Later this morning, the divers again started the search operation and recovered the body.
