Ex-upazila BCL president among 3 remanded
A court in Naogaon has placed Mohadevpur upazila unit Chhatra League (BCL) president Raju Ahmed and two activists on a seven-day remand each in a case filed over assaulting a businessman and demanding extortion.
The two other activists are Nayan Hossain,25, and Imran Muhuri.
Earlier, they were arrested from Ashkona in capital Dhaka around 8pm on Tuesday.
Mohadevpur Police Station OC Nazrul Islam said Raju Ahmed,30, alnog with his associates beat up Sohel Rana, proprietor of RFL Vigo show room, at his shop in bus stand area in the upazila headquarters on September 5.
The next day, Sohel Rana filed an extortion case with the police station accusing Raju, Nayan and 6/7 others.
The CC camera footage of assaulting the businessman went viral in social media platform facebook.
Later, district unit BCL temporarily expelled Raju Ahmed from the organisation.
District BCL president Sabbir Rahman told media that Raju was served show cause notice on September 10 and was asked to reply within three days.
