Directive issued to promote students of Class VIII to Class XI

In the wake of coronavirus pandemic, the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations will not be held centrally this year.

So, the students of all schools and madrasas will be promoted to Class IX through internal evaluation by their respective educational institutions.

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education issued a directive in this regard on Tuesday.

A letter was sent by the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education to the Secretary of the Technical and Madrasa Education Division, Director General of Secondary and Higher Education Department, and chairmen of all education boards on Tuesday asking them to take necessary steps to promote the students to Class IX through evaluating their respective educational institutions without asking them to appear at the JSC and JDC examinations.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has also announced to provide certificates to Class V students without taking the Primary Education Completion (PEC) this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, there no grade point or GPA will not be mentioned on their certificates. Only the word 'Passed' will be mentioned. With that the students will be able to get admitted to Class VI.

The Ministry of Education also decided not to take the PEC and Ebtedayee examinations centrally this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

If it is not possible to open educational institutions by November, students who have registered for the PEC examination will be given certificates.

However, only the word ‘Passed’ will be mentioned in the certificates instead of any grade or GPA, said DPE Director General Md Fashiullah.

He said certificates will be sent to respective schools from where those will be distributed among students.

On March 16, the government closed all the educational institutions in the wake of coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Later, the closure was extended in several phases. Finally, the government extended the closure of all educational institutions until October 3 next.
