Country reports 34 more deaths from COVID-19

With the deaths of 34 more people in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Saturday, Bangladesh's COVID-19 death count now stands at 4,702.

During this timeline, 1,282 fresh cases were reported, taking the total virus cases to 3,36,044.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, on Saturday afternoon.

Health authorities also reported 2,247 more recoveries in a day, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,38,271.

Among the newly deceased, 23 were men and 11 women.

In the last 24 hours, 94 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 10,098 samples and tested 10,723.

With this, a total of 17,15,481 samples were tested in the country.

The latest day's infection rate is 11.96 per cent, compared to the sample tested, while the overall infection rate is 19.59.

Till now, the recovery rate is 70.90 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.40  per cent.

As of today, a total of 3,661 men (77.86 per cent) and 1,041 women (22.14 per cent) died of the deadly virus in the country.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18.

According to Worldometer's COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed  9,20,316 people globally and infected 28,687,168 as of Satuday afternoon.
