OC Pradeep lands in jail after remand

A court in Cox's Bazar on Tuesday ordered to send suspended officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf police Pradeep Kumar Das to jail on completion of his remand for the fourth phase.

OC Pradeep is the number 2 accused in Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan murder case.

"OC Pradeep gave us important information during interrogation in custody for 15 days. Tuesday was the last day of one-day remand in the fourth phase," said investigation officer of the case ASP Khairul Islam of RAB 15.

On August 6, OC Pradeep Kumar Das and six other accused in Major (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan murder case were  put on a seven-day remand.

Later, the court granted four-day remand for him on August 24, three-day remand on August 28 and one-day remand on August 31.

On July 31 night, Major (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was killed in police firing at a checkpost at Shamlapur area under Baharchhara union along the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive.

Later, his sister filed a case where she made Baharchhara Investigation Centre's Inspector Liakat Ali as prime accused and Teknaf Police Station OC as the accused number two. Besides, seven more policemen were made accused in the case.
