A Dhaka Court on Wednesday sent suspended Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) office assistant Abzal Hossain to jail rejecting his bail prayer in two cases filed for amassing huge amount of wealth illegally.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayesh passed the order after hearing on the cases.
Earlier this morning, he surrendered in court and sought bail. Lawyer Shahinur Rahman pleaded on behalf of Abzal.
Md Tawfiqul Islam, deputy director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), filed two cases against Abzal with ACC's integrated district office, Dhaka 1, on June 23, 2019.
In the cases, an allegation of amassing wealth of Tk over 36 crore has been brought against Abzal and his wife.
On January 14, last year, the Health Ministry suspended the office assistant on charge of corruption.
