A new investigating officer (IO) has been appointed in Major Sinha murder case.
Assistant superintendent of police (ASP) M Khairul Islam, posted in RAB will now investigate the case.
He replaced the previous IO ASP Jamilul Haque of RAB-15.
Lt Col Ashik Billah, director of RAB Law and Media wing, confirmed media about the matter.
He said, "The investigating officer in a case filed by Maj (retd) Sinha's sister Sharmin Shahria Ferdous has been chaged. The new IO ASP Khairul Islam has merit, farsightedness and wise officer. He had sown professionalism as an IO to handle a number of sensational cases."
The new IO Khairul Islam is leading the interrogation of four accused policemen and three other suspects in connection to the murder case of Major Sinha.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have taken four police members, accused in the Major (Retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan murder case, and three witnesses into its custody from Cox's Bazar District Jail for interrogation.
They all have been placed on seven days' remand.
On July 31 night, Major (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was killed in police firing at a checkpost at Shamlapur area under Baharchhara union along the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive.
Later, his sister filed a case where she made Baharchhara Investigation Centre's Inspector Liakat Ali as prime accused and Teknaf Police Station OC as the accused number two. Besides, seven more policemen were made accused in the case.
