Man killed in collision between two buses in Kurigram

A man has been killed in a collision between two buses at Sadar upazila in Kurigram district.

The accident took place on the Rangpur-Kurigram highway at Kathalbari Bazar at about 10:00am that also left eight passengers injured.

Deceased Shamsul Haque, 50, was a resident of Maltibari village under Ulipur upazila in the district.
 
Locals said a bus of 'Ahsan Paribahan' coming from Dhaka collided head-on with another bus of 'Ajoy Paribahan', leaving nine passengers from the both vehicles injured.

Being informed, firefighters from Kurigram Fire Service and Civil Defence office went to the spot, rescued the injured and sent them to a local hospital.

However, Shamsul succumbed to his injuries at Ulipur Upazila Healthy Complex this afternoon.

Kurigram Sadar Police Station inspector Md Anwarul Islam confirmed the matter.
