7 women, girl, children rescued while being trafficked to India thru' Satkhira border
Seven persons including three women, a teenage girl and three children have been rescued by locals from Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira district while they were being trafficked to India.
Arifa Khatun, 15, daughter of Abdur Rauf Gazi of Khulna's Koyra upazila came to the Kalaroa border with a member of a human trafficking syndicate by a motorcycle.
Sensing that she was being trafficked to India, Arifa started crying. As the local people chased the motorcycle, the trafficker fled away abandoning her in front of Hathat Ganj Secondary School.
Arifa said one Jakir Gazi brought her at the border saying he would give her a good job.
According to information provided by her, the local union parishad member Mafizul Islam rescued the rest others from Sohrab Hossain's house at Keragachhi village in the upazila with the help of local administration.
All of the rescued people are residents of Koyara upazila and they were handed over to their relatives, said our local correspondent.
