NSU Webinar discusses latest Covid-19 Development

North South University (NSU) in collaboration with NSU Global Health Institute jointly organized a webinar titled ‘For a better tomorrow’ on Tuesday.

It was an interactive webinar where professionals exchanged of dialogue between and shared their views of the current scenario and the reasons for being optimistic, which will lead to a better tomorrow.

Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Deputy Minister of Education, was present as the chief guest.

Former FBCCI president MA  Kashem, chairman of NSU Board of Trustees, was present as the special guest. Professor Atiqul Islam, NSU Vice-Chancellor chaired the event.

In his speech, Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury said, "The educational institution will be opened according to the instructions given by the expert committee. The reality of our country is that the situation is not the same everywhere. The density of students in everywhere is not the same. So, a little more time is needed to make a risk-controlled decision and plan that is suitable for everyone in this situation."

"There are thousands of educational institutions in the country. If these institutions become fully operational, the big challenge we have to face is to check the capabilities of our public health sector to take the kind of risks that may arise in that case," he added.

M A Kashem opined that students need to be encouraged to learn online as the educational institution is not going to be kept open due to the coronavirus situation.

He also advised the student to keep their mind strong. "Do not lose your courage, take care of yourself and your family and do your job well," Kashem added.

Mentioning that many technologies have been developed during the Corona period, Prof. Atiqul Islam termed the government very successful in raising awareness about corona among the people.

Prof. Dr M Shahidullah, Senior child specialists and president of Bangladesh Medical and Dental council, Chair, National COVID-19 technical advisory committee, Prof. Dr. Sanya Tahmina Jhora, Additional Director General (Plan & Dev.), DGHS, Dr.ASM Maksud Kamal, Professor & Pro-Vice Chancellor, Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Dhaka, Dr. Ahmed Hossain, Professor, Department of public Health, Director, NSU Global Health Institute, NSU, Dr. Mohammad Mushtuq Husain, Advisor, IEDCR, Former Principal Scientific Officer & Head Dept. of Medical Social Science, IEDCR and Mr. Suvas Singho Roy, Chief Editor, AB News24 were present as Speakers in the webinar.

The webinar moderated by Dr. Hasan Mahmud Reza, Dean (Acting), School of Health & Sciences, North South University.





Among others,Teachers, Researchers, Directors, officials of the university and Media representatives were also present in the webinar.
