Webinar Conference on foreign investment between BIDA and BBF Global held

Better Bangladesh Foundation (BBF) and BBF Global jointly arranged a webinar titled "Attracting investment and trade in Bangladesh" on August 9.

The programme was joined by BIDA executive chairman Md Sirajul Islam, actors Ferdous Ahmed and Riaz Ahmed; GTV editor-in-chief Syed Ishtiaque Reza, former Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman and former High Commissioner ASMA Awal with BBF chairman Masud A Khan in the chair.  

Bangladeshi business leaders from home and abroad attended the online conference and shared their thoughts on attracting foreign direct investment in the country.

Rohema Miah, a political advisor of UK Labour Party, said there is lack of transparency in areas like business laws, finance, repatriation of profit and taxation in Bangladesh.

The BBF can bridge the gap in partnership with BIDA, she added.

Dr Atiur Rahman in his speech called for exploring outsourcing field and ensuring a more hospitable environment for it.

Md Sirajul Islam said BIDA will update its guide on foreign investment in Bangladesh. The guide would serve as an effective framework for local and international business owners and investors, he added.
