The Directorate General of Health Services is going to stop its daily online briefing on COVID-19 situation from Wednesday (August 12).

Confirming the matter, Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of Directorate General of Health Services, said on Tuesday, "The media will get corona-related all news through our press release."

The DGHS has been informing the virus-related news through its daily online bulletin at 2:30pm for over the last four months.

Bangladesh today recorded 33 more virus deaths, raising the total fatality number to 3,417.

Meanwhile, the infection number soared to 2,63,503 after detecting 2,996 more patients from 14,820 samples at 86 labs in last 24 hours.

Some 1,535 more corona patients have recovered during this period, taking the total recovery number to 1,51,972.

Currently, the recovery rate stands at 57.67 per cent while the infection rate at 20.22 per cent and the mortality rate at 1.32 per cent.

Of the dead, 28 were male and five were female.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
