Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said BNP leaders have become so devastated mentally that they are now scared of people's wrath.
"Instead of bolstering people amid the coronavirus crisis, the BNP leaders have resorted to spreading panic among people. They are behaving desperately in politics like the desperate coronavirus," he said while speaking at an agreement signing ceremony with the Japan government through videoconferencing from his residence at Banani in Dhaka on Thursday.
Criticising the BNP, the Awami League General Secretary said BNP leaders have been criticising the government amid the suffereings of people. They are not beside the coronavirus infected people. They are also not beside the unemployed and helpless people. When the Awami League leaders and activists have relentlessly working for coronavirus infected people, the leaders and workers of BNP have become exhausted sitting inside their houses. Their only duty is to utter words sitting inside the houses.
Quader said the government and AL have stood beside the flood-affected people. Relief distribution is also going on at the private level.
He said BNP is talking absurdly instead of staying beside the affected people.
Mentioning the government’s all-out continuous responses to stand by the marooned people in floods, the minister said cluster plan is being taken to compensate losses in different sectors, including agriculture, and rehabilitate the victims after the flood.
Quader said the government welcomes any constructive criticism in the national interest but a vested quarter is out to spread rumors through social media and at home and abroad which is completely illogical and apparently it is for tarnishing the country's image at the international arena.
