Virus toll hits to 2,801 in country with 50 more deaths

Bangladesh's novel coronavirus deaths tally rose to 2,801 on Thursday as 50 more fatalities reported in last 24 hours.
During this time, the virus cases surged to 2,16,110 after detecting 2,856 corona patients, Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), confirmed the figure at the daily health bulletin this afternoon.
The number of deaths and cases have increased in the past 24 hours than Wednesday's figure.
Of the dead, 41 were male and nine were female.
Some 12,398 more samples have been tested in 80 labs across the country. Total 1,079,007 samples have been till today.
The bulletin informed that another 2,006 more corona patients made recovery from the disease in the last 24 hours, raising the total number to 1,19,210.
Currently, the death rate is 1.30 per cent while the infection rate is 23.04 per cent.
Globally, COVID-19 has killed 630,537 people and infected 15,390,221.
