Lalmonirhat people's sufferings mount, water level marks sharp fall


Lalmonirhat's overall flood situation remained unchanged. People's sufferings in the flood-hit areas are mounted, though the water level of Teesta-Dhorola marked sharp falls.

According to Water Development Board, the water of the Teesta River was flowing 53 cm above the danger level, breaking record of last 30 years.

Meanwhile, Dharla's water is flowing highest 69cm above.

Inhabitants of the flood-hit areas are facing food crisis. Marooned people, specially children and elderly persons, are on the severe health risk.
Meanwhile, deputy commissioner has started distribution relief foods from Monday afternoon.
