A former union parishad member was killed at Dhunat upazila in Bogura district on Saturday afternoon.

Deceased Abdul Khaleq, 55, was former UP member of Ward No. 1 under Gopalnagar union in the upazila.

Local sources said one co-villager farmer Rafiqul Islam, 42, hit Abdul Khaleq with an iron rod through window when he was sleeping at his house in Chakmehedi village in the afternoon.

Injured UP member was rushed to Dhunat Upazila Health Complex. Later, he was shifted to Bagura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical Hospital where he died around 6pm.
