Regent chairman's aide Tareque remanded

A Dhaka court on Friday placed Regent Group chairman’s aide Tariqul Islam alias Tareque Shibli on a five-day remand in a case filed for issuing fake issuing fake COVID-19 certificates and exorbitant charge for the virus test and treatment.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan passed the order in the afternoon.

Earlier, Uttara West police station inspector Md Alamgir Gazi, also the investigation officer of this case, produced Tareque before the court seeking seven days remand for him.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested him from Nakhalpara area in the capital early Thursday.

Earlier on July 8, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury put seven staff of Regent Hospital on a five-day remand.
