Bangladesh's COVID-19 deaths surged to 2,096 on Monday with 44 more casualties in last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, infection cases reached 1,65,618 as 3,201 positive cases reported after testing 14,245 samples at 68 labs across the country.
Of the dead, 33 were male and 11 were female.
Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana confirmed the matter at the daily health bulletin this afternoon.
The DGHS requested people of flood-affected areas to drink tubewell water or drink after boiling water. Boiled water can protect people in the areas from waterborne diseases.
Besides, 3,524 patients made recovery from the disease during the period, taking the total recovery number to 76,149.
The current death rate is 1.27 per cent while the infection rate is 22.47 percent.
Some 715 new virus patients were admitted to hospitals across the country while 644 released during the period.
Another 877 people were taken to isolation in the last 24 hours while 687 released.
