Popular singer Andrew Kishore at crossroads of life and death


National award-winning singer Andrew Kishore is now at the crossroads of life and death. His physical condition has deteriorated over the last two days. His condition aggravated on Sunday afternoon. He is now staying at his sister Dr Shikha's residence at Mohibatan area in Rajshahi city.

Many fans thronged Dr Shikha's residence after hearing the news of the deterioration of 65-year-old Andrew Kishore's physical condition on Sunday afternoon. Receiving information, newsmen from different media outlets also rushed to the house. At one stage, he family members said he (Andrew Kishore) couldn't talk to anyone else.
Andrew Kishore, who had been undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital with blood cancer for eight months since October last year, returned to Dhaka at night on June 11 last after receiving release order. On the following day, he came back to Rajshahi from Dhaka. Since then he has been staying at her sister's house.

Returning to Dhaka on June 11, Andrew Kishore told journalists that he was gradually improving. "My physical condition is now better than that of the earlier. Doctors advised me to take rest," he said.

After staying at his Mirpur's flat for over a week, the singer went Rajshahi on Saturday morning. He will have to go to Singapore General Hospital after every three months for check-up. He went Singapore for treatment on September 9 last year with various complications.

After necessary examinations, blood cancer was detected in his body. Since then he had been taking treatment at Singapore General Hospital. His wife Lipika Andrew also accompanied him. He was given 24 chemotherapy in six phases.

Before the detection of cancer in his body, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina donated him Tk 10 lakh for his treatment. Besides, fund was raised through a website called 'Go Fund Me." Many of his co-artistes stood beside him.
