Senior journalist Faruk Quazi dies

Faruk Quazi, senior journalist and Prime Minister's former deputy press secretary, passed away on Friday (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). He was 71.
Law reporters' Forum (LRF) president Wakil Ahmed Hiron said Quazi died in his sleep at his Elephant Road residence around 8 am.
He left behind wife, one daughter and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
The former LRF president, Quazi also worked in news agency BSS, UNB, the Daily Observer, Banglar Bani, Azad, Bangladesher Khobor and a number of media.
He was the former minister (press) of Bangladesh High Commission to New Delhi in 1996.
Faruk Quazi will be buried at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard following a namaz-e-janaza at Kataban Mosque after Jum'a prayers.
He was born in January 17, 1949 at Thanapara in Kushtia district.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her deep shock at the death of Faruk Quazi.
She also prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family.
Law Minister Anisul Huq and Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain also expressed their deep condolence at the death of former deputy press secretary of the PM.
Khulna Division Journalists' Forum also condoled the death of its Dhaka wing member Faruk Quazi.
In a condolence message, forum's Dhaka wing president Rahul Raha and general secretary Mursalin Nomani prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family.
