Chattogram sees record C-19 patients in a day
Chattogram has witnessed a record quantity of COVID 19 patients during the last 24.
A total of 445 patients have been tested positive on Monday which is the highest record of COVID-19 positive in the city since March last.
Besides, the total numbers of COVID-19 positive have crossed 8000.
When contacted, Chattogram civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told the Daily Observer that identification of 445 patients in the city is the highest record till now.
He also said that the highest numbers of samples have been tested in the city on that day.
Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi confirmed that a total of 1594 sample kits have been tested in six laboratories and the Cox’s Bazar Medical College.
He also admitted that more than 200 patients have been detected in Chattogram daily.
The civil surgeon said that the testing COVID-19 sample has now reached to 1500 daily in six laboratories of Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar Medical College.
Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) situated at Fouzderhat with testing capacity of 250 samples daily, the Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Science University (CVASU), with the testing capacity 150 kits daily, the Chattogram Medical College (CMC) with testing over 250 kits daily and the Chattogam University laboratory with 300 capacity daily. Besides, Cox’s Bazar Medical College is testing nearly 100 of Satkania and Lohagara upazilas of Chattogram daily.
The port city has the capacity of providing medical facilties to 960 patients by Public and City Corporation Hospital. These include, the General Hospital has facilities for 160 patients including 10 ICU, Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) to 150 patients including 6 ICU, BITID to 30 patients, Holy Crescent Hospital to 60 including 10 ICU, Railway Hospital to 50.
Besides, Private hospitals of Bangabandhu Meorial Hospital has been providing treatment to 100 including 2 ICU, Ma O Shishu Hospital to 20 including 4 ICU, and Chattogram Field Hospital to 40 patients.
