2 traders jailed in Sherpur for keeping shops open
A mobile court in Sherpur has sentenced two traders for two months imprisonment for keeping their shops open defying the district administration's instruction.
The jailed traders are Sheikh Farid, a resident of Nayagaon village and Krishna Chandra Barman of Bagerbhita village in the upazila. They both are sweet traders.
The mobile court, led by Jhenaigati upazila nirbahi officer and executive magistrate Rubel Mahmud, raided in the upazila headquarters area and jailed the two traders.
Rubel Mahmud said the district administration asked the owners to close their shops, except medicine and grocery shops, to prevent spread of deadly coronavirus.
The shop owners were sent to jail as they kept their shops open after 4:00 pm breaching the directions, she added.
