'Red Zone' Wari to be put on lockdown from Saturday morning

Eight external and internal roads at Wari area in the capital will be brought under lockdown from 6:00am on Saturday (July 4).
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh announced it on Tuesday afternoon following an emergency meeting of the central management committee to enforce lockdown.
Earlier, lockdown was imposed on East Rajabazar area. The lockdown ended on Tuesday night after 21 days.
The external roads of the eight areas under Ward No. 41 of Wari under the DSCC are Tipu Sultan Road, Jahangir Road, from Joykali Mandir to Boldha Garden, while the internal roads are Larmini Saha Street, Hori Street, Wari Street, Rankin Street and Nawab Street.
Mayor Taposh said lockdown would remain in place on these areas for the next 21 days (until July 21). "Only two roads will be used to enter and exist the Wari area. We will shut down the entrances of rest of the roads. A control room will also be set up there. Besides, there will be booths to collect coronavirus samples."
Corona sample testing will be arranged in the lockdown area at this time. Besides, other emergency services will also be provided.
He also said non-covid patients in the lockdown area would be given treatment if needed and only medicines and essential products will be provided.
Besides, Mina Bazar, Swapna and others will provide daily necessities through e-commerce at this time.
People of the area will be made aware of the lockdown through loudspeakers before the execution of the lockdown.
