Ex-lawmaker Ehiya Khan passes away

Kamruddin Ehiya khan Majlish, a former BNP lawmaker from Sirajganj-6 constituency, has died of cardiac arrest at a hospital in Dhaka at the age of 66.
He breathed his last at Medinova Hospital in Dhanmondi at about 2:30 am on Monday, BNP standing committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku confirmed.
He left behind his wife, two sons and a host of relative and well-wisher to mourn his death.
Ehiya's brother Ziauddin Ehiya khan said the body is being taken to his village home at Dargahpara in Shahjadpur upazila of the district.
He will be buried at family graveyard there after Asr prayers, he added.
Meanwhile, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of the BNP lawmaker.
Kamruddin Ehiya khan Majlish was elected member of the parliament twice in 1991 and 1996. He also performed his duty as chairman of Milk Vita and director and chairman of Agrani Bank Limited.
