The death tally from novel coronavirus rose to 1,738 on Sunday as Bangladesh reported 43 more deaths in last 24 hours.
During this period, the infection cases surged to 1,37,787 with 3,809 more positives cases after testing 18,099 samples, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana confirmed the figure this afternoon at its daily bulletin.
The infection rate is 21.05 per cent while the death rate is 1.26 per cent.
Of the deceased, 29 were male and 14 were female.
Total 7,30,097 samples have been tested across the country till today.
While briefing, Dr Nasima reiterated to maintain all health rules to control the coronavirus pandemic.
Some 1,409 COVID-19 patients have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, the total recovery number reached 55,727.
The rate of recovery from the disease currently stands at 40.54 per cent.
Across the country, 717 more people were taken to isolation in the last 24 hours while 461 were released. Currently, 14,523 people are in isolation.
Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8. The number of cases has spiked in recent weeks.
