Feni AL leader Akramuzzaman dies of COVID-19
Feni district Awami League unit president advocate Akramuzzaman died of novel coronavirus at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
The 74-year-old valiant freedom fighter breathed his last at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital at early hours of Sunday.
His family members said the AL leader was admitted to the CMH on June 19 with respiratory problem. He was found positive for the deadly virus the next day and shifted to the ICU.
Before shifting at the hospital, Akramuzzaman had been suffering from fever and cough for four days at home.
He was the former president of district Ainjibi Samity. He was elected president of the then Feni Mohkuma Students' Union in 1967.
The Awami League leader left behind wife, two sons, a daughter and host of relatives to mourn his death.
He will buried at his family graveyard in Bedrabad Shilua village under Sadar upazila around 5:30pm on Monday after namaz-e-janaza.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of the AL leader.
In a condolence message, she said Akramuzzaman will live in the heart of people as leader of mass people.
Akramuzzaman's nephew Asaduzzaman, district correspondent of Dainik Kalerkantha, said the AL leader's younger son is now on way back to home from UK.
