Four suspected Rohingya robbers were killed in a 'gunfight' with police in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Friday afternoon.
M Iqbal Hossain, additional superintendent of cox's Bazar Police, said the gunfight took place in Hoaikyang hilly area in the afternoon.
He said a police team raided the hilly area in search of top pirate Abdul Hakim.
"Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the gang opened fire on them. In retaliation, police also fired back," he added.
As the gang retreated towards the hills, police recovered four bodies.
The deceased are identified as Bashir Ahmed, Mohammad Hamid, Mohammad
Rafique and Roinga. Of them, Bashir and Hamid were brothers of Rohingya
robber Abdul Hakim and the tow other were residents of a Rohingya camp.
Four local arms and 40,000 Yaba have also been recovered from the scene.
