ICDDR,B to start COVID-19 testing from Friday

ICDDR,B to start COVID-19 testing from Friday

The ICDDR,B would provide COVID-19 testing facilities to suspected patients from Friday, said a press release on Wednesday.

The patient will have to book an appointment through online registration by visiting and making a payment via debit/credit card or online/mobile banking system.

The web application will be live from 6:00pm on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, and ready for registration.

The test will cost Tk 3,500.

The test entails swab sample collection from the deep throat and nose of the individual. Samples will be collected daily from 12:00pm while reports will be provided within the next 24 to 48 hours.

Dinesh Mondal, acting director of Laboratory Sciences and Services Division of ICDDR,B, in the press release, said, "We have renovated our diagnostic centre to provide COVID-19 testing facilities to patients. Initially we are offering the test through online registration only, but later we will make it more accessible to people of all walks of life."

Only the patient and one accompanying attendant would be allowed inside the testing facility and they must wear face mask and properly adhere to the government's health and hygiene guidelines, the release said.
