Family members of 26 Bangladeshi fishermen who are now imprisoned in India’s Assam formed a human chain demanding their release and return in the country.
According to family members 26 people went to visit their relatives house in Assam. Indian police arrested them from Jhorhaat area as their date of travel visas were found expired on May 3, they said.
Members of Chapubat Police Station arrested them and sent them to jail.
Family members of the arrested fishermen formed the human chain on Kurigarm college moor at noon.
Nahid Hasan, a resident of Chilmari, said relatives of border areas use travel visa to communicate with each-other. Arrest of the Bangladeshis is an inhuman act and country should take step to release them, he added.
Malancha Begum, mother of arrested Manik and Rejaul, said two sons are earning members of her family. She appealed the administration to take step for their release.
