Deaths, cases from coronavirus continue to rise


The death toll from COVID-19 climbed to 781 on Thursday as 35 more causalities were reported in Bangladesh in last 24 hours.

At the same time, 2,423 confirmed cases were recorded, raising the total number to 57,563. 

Some 571 patients recovered from the virus infection in the past 24 hours. With these, the number of recovery cases rose to 12,161.

Of the dead, 29 were male and six were female.
Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), confirmed the matter in the daily online bulletin on the COVID-19 situation in the afternoon.

She urged all to follow the health guidelines including wearing masks and hand gloves outdoor and maintaining social distancing.

Total 12,694 samples have been tested in the last 24 hours.

Coronavirus cases were first reported in China in December last year.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
