FF dies with coronavirus symptoms in Manikganj
A freedom fighter has died with coronavirus symptoms at isolation ward of Manikganj District Hospital.
Deceased freedom fighter Safiduddin was 74.
The hospital administrator Dr Aeshwad Ullah confirmed the matter on Wednesday afternoon.
Arshwad Ullah said Safiuddin was admitted to the hospital with fever and respiratory problems on Tuesday afternoon.
He died around 4:30 am today.
His sample was sent to Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute in Savar this morning.
Safiuddin hailed from Bonna village of Nagarpur upazila in Tangail district. He lived with his family at in-laws’ house at Thakurkandi village in Ghior upazila of Manikganj.
During the liberation, he was the Chauhali Upazila Commander in Sirajganj district under Sector No 11, said Chauhali Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad Unit commander Aftab Uddin Talukder.
Ghior Upazila Nirbahi Officer Irene Akhter said freedom fighter Safiuddin Ahmed will be buried with state honours at Thakurkandi village cemetery at 5:00 pm.
Meanwhile, three more tested positive for coronavirus in Manikganj, taking the total number to 176 here.
Dr Anwarul Amin Akhanda confirmed in the afternoon.
Currently, some 20 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals of the district and 114 at their respective homes.
