Non-paying British brands will be blacklisted: BGMEA

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has threatened to blacklist British brands for not paying dues to suppliers.

BGMEA President Rubana Huq confirmed this on Friday.

She said Peacock, Jaeger, Bonmarche & Ponden Home and British billionaire Philip Day, owner of England's Carlisle-based retailer EWM, will be blacklisted on charge of keeping payment due and inhuman in corona situation.

On May 21, the BGMEA sent a letter in this regard. It warned to settle dues by May 29.
The letter said eight organisations under readymade garments in Bangladesh yet not be paid dues.

Meanwhile, foreign buyers have, so far, cancelled orders worth over US$ 3 billion following the outbreak of coronavirus.
