At least two people were killed when cyclonic storm 'Amphan' was wreaking havoc in Bhola district on Wednesday night.
Besides, 30 houses were destroyed in Char Kukri Mukri and Dal Char and more than 500 ponds and fishing enclosures in the district were washed away by the storm and its tidal surges.
District deputy commissioner Masud Alam Siddique said an embankment of Hakimuddin area in Burhanuddin upazila was damaged due to the storm.
Bhola WDB executive engineer Hasan Mahmud said Faezuddin, Dakshin Sakuchia, Surja Mukhi, Uttar Sakuchia and Ramnewa areas in Manpura upazila and Tazumuddin upazila were submerged under water after tidal surges.
Geo bags were put in damaged sites of the embankment in bid to check the fresh flooding, he added.
Bhola-3 seat MP Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon has visited the risky embankment areas in Chachra and Chandpur union parishad under Tazumuddin upazila.
