Advocate Zahirul Islam, a close associate of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and former member of Gana Parishad (Constituent Assembly of Bangladesh) passed away on Monday.
Advocate Islam, an ex-general secretary of Cox’s Bazar district Awami League and former president of Cox’s Bazar District Bar Association, died of old-age complications at his Chattogram city residence this noon at the age of 80.
He left behind wife, three sons and three daughters to mourn his death.
President M Abdul Hamid expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Advocate Zahirul Islam.
In a condolence message, the President prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
