Driver killed as truck plunges into ditch in Netrakona

A truck driver was killed after the vehicle plunged into a roadside ditch in Kendua upazila of Netrakona district on Sunday night.

Deceased Belayet Hossain, 26, was the son of Sadeque Mia, a resident of Chartala village in Ashuganj upazila of Brahmanbaria. 

Kendua Police Station officer in-charge Mohammad Rasheduzzaman said the paddy-laden truck fell into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over steering at Birganj Bazar. 

Assistant of the truck driver Samrat Mia was also injured in the accident. He is now undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.   

Being informed, police and fire service personnel from Netrakona Fire Service and Civil Defence Station conducted a rescue operation and recovered the body, OC Rasheduzzaman said.
