Listed criminal killed in 'gunfight' with RAB

A listed criminal was killed in a gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in city's  Banani area early Friday.

Deceased Jalil,45, was a drug trader and an accused of 16 cases, ASP Sujoy Sarkar, Assistant Director of Legal and Media Wing of RAB Headquarters confirmed.

ASP M Qamruzzaman of RAB-1 told media that acting on information that drugs were being sold in T&T Karail Battala area,
a team of the elite force raided the area around 12:30am.

Sensing their presence, the drug traders opened fire on them, forcing the RAB men to fire back that trigerred a gun battle.

At one stage, all the terrorists retreated and Jalil was found dead.

He was declared dead at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. 

RAB member Kamrul also received injuries during the encounter. he is undergoing treatment at the DMCH, informed ASP Qamruzzaman.

Two foreign pistols, two magazines, 11 bullets and 500 Yaba pills were recovered from the spot, he added.
