Traders announce to cut hot spice prices up to 25 per cent

Bangladesh Wholesale Hot Spice Traders Association has announced to reduce hot spice prices by minimum 10 per cent to maximum 25 per cent.
The announcement came on Wednesday after a six-member delegation of the association met Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi and Commerce Secretary Dr Md Jafar Uddin at the Secretariat.
Earlier, the international market of hot spices and import cost in Bangladesh was discussed at a meeting, presided over by Md Obaidul Azam, additional secretary of the commerce ministry.
The traders agreed to keep the prices of spices stable ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
After the discussion, the Hot Spice Traders Association announced the price list of the hot spices.
According to the announcement, the price of cumin (Indian) was set at Tk 300–Tk 340 per kg, cinnamon (Chinese) was set at Tk 310-Tk 330 per kg, and cinnamon (Vietnamese) was set at Tk 350-370 per kg, clove at Tk 680-Tk 720 per kg, cardamom at Tk 2,800– Tk 3,200 per kg, black pepper (white) at Tk 550–Tk 580 per kg and black pepper (black) at Tk 360–Tk 380 per kg.
Md Enayet Ullah, president, and Md Atiqul Huque, secretary general, of the association signed the pricelist.
