Freedom fighter hacked in Netrokona

Police have arrested two men from Atpara upazila of Netrokona district for hacking a 68-year-old freedom fighter.

The arrested persons are Kamruzzaman Kamrul, 42, a resident of Gobindapur village of the upazila, and Sanaullah, 21.

Local sources said Kamrul along with his men hacked freedom fighter Md Deen Islam at the village on Sunday afternoon over previous enmity, leaving him critically injured.

Kamrul's two sons also received injuries while they tried to save their father.

The injured were rushed to Atpara Upazila Health Complex. Deen Islam was shifted to Mymenshingh Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

Kamrul’s daughter filed a case with Atpara Police Station on Monday night against 16 people.

Police, arrested the duo following the filing of the case.

The police station officer in-charge Md Ali Hossain said two were arrested while police also were trying to arrest the others.

The arrested were sent to jail on Tuesday following a court order.
