Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Saturday arrested a man in a gang rape case in Taltali upazila of Barguna.
Arrested Md Jahirul Akan is a resident of Tetulbaria area in the upazila.
According to the case statement, Jahirul, who transported passengers on his motorbike, took the victim and her girl to a jungle on April 23 when the woman was going to her aunt’s house in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali from her in-laws’ house in Pirojpur.
Jahirul and his 4-5 associates tied the seven-year-old daughter of the woman with a tree and gang raped her.
Later, she filed a gang rape case with Taltali Police Station on May 1.
RAB-8 company commander additional police superintendent Md Rais Uddin said on information, they arrested Jahirul from South Baliatali area of Sadar upazila in Barguna.
The arrested man was handed over to Taltali police while a hunt is on to arrest the other accused, he added.
